Defensive Auras

PrayerResist FireDefianceResist ColdStaminaCleansingMeditationThe Paladinīs Auras are a reflection of his holy discipline.  By calling on the power of his faith, he can wrap himself in a cloak of protection with these Defensive Auras.

All the Defensive Auras listed here are active skills, requiring them to be selected and mana expended for them to be of use.  The skills on the left affect the Paladin and his friendsī recharge raring.  The skills in the center of the tree deal with augmenting the Paladin and his friendsī defenses, be it their Defense Ratings or the duration of baneful effects.  The skills on the far right protect the Paladin and his companions from magical attacks of an elemental nature.  A Paladin with many Defensive Auras has contingencies for almost any conflict that he might find himself embroiled in.

 

 

 

 

 

Prayer (Req: Clvl 1)
Prayer increases the Paladinīs recharge rate for his Health, and also the health of characters friendly to the Paladin.  Prayer is the closest skill any player has to true healing, although this skill is indirect in its benefits.








 

Resist Fire (Req: Clvl 1)
The Resist Fire Aura gives the Paladin a limited resistance versus fire magic.  It is unsure whether the Resistance is merely added to the Paladinīs existing resistances or is a special effect.








 

Defiance (Req: Clvl 5)
Defiance increases the Paladinīs Defense Rating, making it harder for enemies to successfully strike him.  This potent and low-level aura will greatly increase the Paladinīs odds in any fight.








 

Resist Cold (Req: Clvl 5, Resist Fire)
Like Resist Fire, Resist Cold instead protects against cold-based magic.  Given its higher level, it is assumed that this aura will also extend the benefit of preventing the Paladin from being frozen solid (in effect Paralyzed) by freezing spells.








 

Stamina (Req: Clvl 10, Prayer)
The Stamina Aura increases the recharge rate for Stamina, allowing the Paladin to run and fight longer.  Stamina can spell the difference between life and death in a tight situation, and having a little extra always helps.  This icon is most likely a placeholder for another icon (as it resembles Thorns, an Offensive Aura).









 

Resist Lightning (Req: Clvl 10, Resist Fire, Resist Cold)
The Resist Lightning aura guards the Paladin and his companions against Lightning-based magic, functioning like the other Resistance skills.  It is unknown how this protection will be applied.








 

Cleansing (Req: Clvl 15, Defiance, Prayer, Stamina)
Cleansing reduces the duration of  Curses or poisoning from magic or a weapon.  This aura will be a powerful boon to the Paladin as it enables him to cure his party of ailments and increase their chances for survival.








 

Meditation (Req: Clvl 20, Prayer Stamina)
A very useful aura, Meditation affects all party members friendly to the Paladin and the Paladin himself.  It increases the rate at which mana is recovered, making him an instant hit so far as the spellcasting players are concerned.








 

Purification (Req: Clvl 25, Defiance, Cleansing, Prayer, Stamina)
The Purification Auraīs effect is unknown, but considering its grouping and its requirement, we think it may purge poisoning or a curse automatically, bestowing instant recovery.  Very useful...








 

Salvation (Req: Clvl 25, All Resist Auras, Prayer, Stamina, Defiance, Cleansing)
The Salvation Aura protects against all types of elemental magic (and perhaps even other kinds), making the Paladin nigh invincible to magical attacks while it is active.  A powerful skill with much needed to acquire it.
