Act IV: Descent into Hell

The Town:

Rumors abound to what Act IV, the final Act in Diablo II, will look like.  Details on it are especially vague, as Blizzard plans to keep the Act tight under wrap so there will be something to surprise the gamers.  So as it stands we have no info on Act IV´s town, but it has been rumored that Act IV won´t even have a town, adding to the difficulty of this final level.

Wilderness Area:

The wilderness of Act IV is hell itself, with all of its loathsome environs and hellish denizens intact.  From what we´ve seen of Diablo´s hell area this level will be a stark place of terror and despair.  Hell will surely house some of the most dangerous monsters in the game, and you will probably also see other, more powerful versions of the same creatures you´ve felled so far.  Not to mention that the architecture of Hell will most likely be labyrinthine and mazy, and may easily get you lost or lead you into swarms of creatures that have your demise as their fondest wish.

Of course, there may be more than Hell to Act IV, as the Act has been said to be 2-3 times larger than Diablo itself.  What Act IV may contain is a mystery, a mystery Blizzard means to keep to itself so the conclusion is something you´ll have to play the game to see.

The Quests:

Diablo - The penultimate quest of Act IV is the eventual slaying of Diablo himself, the Lord of Terror.  As we know, Diablo has possessed the Hero´s body this time around, and returns as a different and more terrifying entity.  Diablo´s powers rage this time around, as Albrecht´s vessel was far more inferior than the Hero´s.  And this isn´t even to mention his guards, who may or may not equal his power en masse.

You must also prepare yourself for the eventuality that Diablo himself isn´t the final opposition.  Conquering Diablo II may entail that you defeat all three Greater Evils together, a Herculean task at best.  The end is still a mystery, and the road to Diablo is long and dangerous.
