ShadowSpiral Virtual Character Screen

Welcome to the ShadowSpiral Virtual Character Screen, designed by Darkk and Forscythe. We want the Virtual Character Screen to be a sort of guide through the process of playing Diablo II, describing all the elements that make up the user´s character screen. Place your cursor over a particular element of the screen will display a description of that element beneath the screenshot.

Character Name:

This is your character´s name as you have given it during character generation.  This is the name you will have on Battle.net and in all games you use this character with. 

Character Class:

This is your character´s class as you chose it during character generation.  In Diablo II, you can be either Amazon, Barbarian, Necromancer, Paladin, or Sorceress.

Character Level:

This is your character´s level at the present time.  Killing creatures and solving quests will give you experience, which is used to increase your level.  When you raise a level you get 5 attribute points and 1 skill point to distribute among your stats. 

Raise Attribute Button:

This button distributes 1 attribute point to the chosen attribute.

Experience Total:

This displays the total amount of experience points you´ve managed to accumulate in the course of the game. 

Experience to Next Level:

This displays the amount of experience you´ll need to get before you can gain another experience level. 

Strength Rating:

This is your current strength, the number showing how many attribute points you have in it.  Strength is the measure of how powerful you are and judges how much damage you can do with a melee weapon or a basic attack.

Dexterity Rating:

This is your current dexterity, the number showing how many attribute points you have in it.  Dexterity is the measure of how lithe and agile you are and determines how successful your attacks will be against the enemy.  A higher Dexterity score also raises your armor class.

Primary Skill Damage:

This indicator tells you how much damage you can do with the weapon or skill you happen to have equipped in the primary (left mouse button) slot.  As you raise your Strength the amount of damage you do will raise as well.

Secondary Skill Damage:

This indicator tells you how much damage you can do with the weapon or skill you happen to have equipped in the secondary (right mouse button) slot.  As you raise your Strength the amount of damage you do will raise as well.

New Skill Indicator:

This display tells that you have skill points available to distributed among your skills.  Since this Sorceress just raised a level, it would be clear that she probably have just one point for now.

Vitality Rating:

This is your current vitality, the number showing how many attribute points you have in it.  Vitality is the measure of how vigorous and healthy you are and determines how much Stamina and Life you will have.

Energy Rating:

This is your current energy, the number showing how many attribute points you have in it.  Energy is the measure of how much arcane potency you have and determines how much Mana you can use to use your skills.  Energy might also increase some skills´ power.

Stat Points Remaining Display:

A display that tells you how many attribute points you have left to distribute.  The red buttons beside the various attributes increases it by one point.

Primary Attack Rating:

This number is your base chance to successfully hit a creature with your primary melee attack.  The more Dexterity you have the higher this value becomes and the easier it becomes to hit your enemies. 

Secondary Attack Rating:

This number is your base chance to successfully hit a creature with your secondary melee attack.  The more Dexterity you have the higher this value becomes and the easier it becomes to hit your enemies.

Defense Rating:

This number is your base chance to avoid being hit by an opponent.  The higher your Defense Rating you have the harder it becomes for your opponents to damage you.  Each point placed into the Dexterity attribute can raise your Defense Rating.

Stamina:

This is the numeric value of how much Stamina you have, and is also represented by the yellow bar in the UI.  Stamina judges how long you can run or fight, and when it is gone you can only walk and cannot fight.  The number on the left is your current Stamina, the number on the right is your total Stamina.

Life:

This is the numeric value of how much Life you have, and it is represented by the red globe at the far left of the UI.  Life tells you how much damage you can take before you are dead.  The number on the left is your current Life, the number on the right is your total Life.

Mana:

This is the numeric value of how much Mana you have, and it is represented by the blue globe at the far right of the UI.  Mana tells you how much power you have to use your active skills, and it slowly recharges over time.  The number on the left is your current Mana, the number on the right is your total Mana.

Fire Resistance:

This tells you how much of a percentage chance you have to avoid having fire-based magic affect you.  The higher your fire percentage the more likely it is that fire-based magic won´t hurt you.  Resistances can only be attained by certain skills or magical items.

Cold Resistance:

This tells you how much of a percentage chance you have to avoid having cold-based magic affect you.  The higher your fire percentage the more likely it is that cold-based magic won´t hurt you.  Resistances can only be attained by certain skills or magical items.

Lightning Resistance:

This tells you how much of a percentage chance you have to avoid having lightning-based magic affect you.  The higher your fire percentage the more likely it is that lightning-based magic won´t hurt you.  Resistances can only be attained by certain skills or magical items.

Poison Resistance:

This tells you how much of a percentage chance you have to avoid having poison-based magic affect you.  The higher your fire percentage the more likely it is that poison-based magic won´t hurt you.  This might also judge how long poisoning will affect you.  Resistances can only be attained by certain skills or magical items.

Undo or Cancel Button:

It is currently unknown what this button does, but we think it might undo or cancel the last choice for attribute point distribution you made.  This would allow you to fix any mistakes you think you´ve made while allotting points.  That is, however, only a theory.

Skill of the Week

Iron Maiden
Harkening back to an inquisitional torture, the Iron Maiden curse causes all damage an enemy does to you to be returned to that enemy as well.  Part of the Necromancer´s
Curses, it is a powerful addition to his arsenal.
